Explanation of Condition

Inflammation of cartilage, usually in the ribs. A common cause of chest pain which may mimic that of a pulmonary embolism or underlying pleural inflammation. See also

Guidance

Acceptable at recruitment due to minimum six month deferral from joining to being made available on the register.

Acceptable at CT/work-up only if performed by a NHS healthcare provider, or an independent practitioner who is subject to discipline by a statutory body, including:

The General Medical Council

The Nursing and Midwifery Council

The General Dental Council

The General Chiropractic Council

The General Optical Council

The General Osteopathic Council

The Health Professions Council

If evidence of the above is not given, then a minimum 4 month deferral period applies at CT/Work-up. However, this may be reduced at the discretion of the transplant centre.
