Explanation of Condition

Painful acute arthritis caused by build up of uric acid crystals in the joint space. There is a risk of an acute attack being precipitated by G-CSF.

Guidance

BM only if requires allopurinol to prevent attacks.

May be acceptable for PBSC if mild or several years have passed since an attack.

Discuss all cases with medical officer at VT.
