Explanation of Condition

Painful acute arthritis caused by build up of uric acid crystals in the joint space. There is a risk of an acute attack being precipitated by G-CSF or general anaesthesia.

Guidance

Unacceptable if requires allopurinol to prevent attacks.

May be acceptable if mild or several years have passed since an attack. Discuss with medical officer if required.
