Explanation of Condition

Viral illness, usually in infants, causing small vesicles to appear on the hands, feet and mouth (hence the name). Caused by a strain of Coxsackie A virus. It is self-limiting and fully resolved. It is unusual in adults.

Guidance

Acceptable if more than 2 weeks from full recovery, including healing of all oral and cutaneous lesions.
