Explanation of Condition
Viral liver infection similar in transmission and illness to hepatitis A.
Guidance
Acceptable if more than 12 months from recovery, or more than 12 months from recovery of partner.
If a member of the household is infected, again donation must be deferred until 12 months after recovery.
If Hep E PCR +, check liver function test (AST, ALT):
- If normal --> Acceptable
- If deranged --> G-CSF is contraindicated
