Explanation of Condition

Administration of a radioactive drug which accumulated in a target organ, delivering a toxic dose of radiation. Most commonly radio-iodine used for hyperthyroidsism (Graves disease).

Guidance

Unacceptable if given for malignancy or within the previous six months. Discuss with medical officer and inform transplant centre. See also Thyroid Disease.
