Explanation of Condition

Autoimmune condition leading to chronic, relapsing episodes of diarrhoea and bleeding. Treatment includes aspirin-derived medications, steroids and immunosuppression. Severely affected individuals may require surgical removal of parts of the bowel, and there is an increased risk of bowel cancer in sufferers of ulcerative colitis.

Guidance

Discuss with Medical Officer. Risk of donor-acquired autoimmunity in recipient.
