Transplant was given for malignancy, viral hepatitis or autoimmune disease;

Has ever required immunosuppression therapy;

Received a dura mater or ocular tissue graft;

Has received an animal transplant (xenograft);

Has been informed that they may be at risk of variant CJD;

Acceptable

Autologous transplant; Cadaver transplant of tissue (in avascular locations) may be acceptable in discussion with the transplant centre

If the transplant was performed before 1980 and there are no other clinical reasons why the donor may not donate;


May be acceptable if received transplant after 1980 and is not prohibited by the above conditions. This should be decided by the Medical Officer with either the Chief Medical Officer or Medical Director and the transplant centre, after a thorough risk assessment is undertaken.
