Refer each case to medical officer for individual consideration.

Carrier status is usually acceptable unless it bestows a clinically significant phenotype.

Homozygotes for recessive mutations and heterozygotes for dominant conditions may be acceptable if the donor is not put at risk by donation, if the donor is physically capable to donate, and the quality of the stem cell product is not affected. This should be assessed on a case by case basis. If in doubt, an appropriate specialist opinion should be sought.
