Explanation of Condition

Taking blood, including blood donation.

Guidance

Acceptable if for blood donation, or for haemochromatosis.

Allow at least one month to donate blood prior to a stem cell donation (PBSC or BM).

A donor should not give any routine donations for six months following bone marrow harvest and for three months following peripheral blood stem cell harvest or lymphocyte donation.

Unacceptable if for polycythemia of any cause.
